The run from the cops "dont try this at home"
« on: May 26, 2003, 02:25:31 PM »

Well this is how it went, riding down hwy 94 on the way home stuck behind traffic going under the speed limit so i wait till cresting the hill and there's a cop on the opposite side with an abandoned car so i was safe and figured i would pass and speed up as usually you see one cop on this highway and no others, well by the time of passing the 4 cars ahead of me and returning to my own lane i look down and noticed 110mph on the speedo then raising my head back up and a second cop car comes over the next hill coming towards me, at this speed the cop came up very quick and as she passes we make eye contact while shes shaking her head and after passing her i look in my mirror and sure enough shes burnin a U turn on the highway so i open it up as i dont have many points left on the old license, before i know it i get to my right turn and check the mirror but no sign of the cop car so i make my turn look back over towards the hwy and there she is about 3/4 mile back with the lights flashing and coming quick, well this is now the hwy to my house that im on and once passing the school zone at 25mph i open it up again and tuck as tight as i can as this is a 6 mile stretch to my back yard and as im steady accelerating i hit 6th gear and im up to 160mph the fastest ive ever moved in my life and the fastest i ever WANT to move in my life.as of today no cops have shown up and no letters of any type so i feel very lucky im not dead or in jail, but my reason for posting this story is that this experience has made me decide to sell my bike as i think im at the point of not being scared to test my limits OR the bikes limits anymore and i think everyone agrees that when this happens its time to sell or get a race bike. so if anyone would like to see the bike i have it on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=6708&item=2416812476

I've done a consitent 155 on my bike for about 5 miles down the highway before. I don't know about 160 running from a cop. You're allot braver than I am.

Do you have anything done to your bike 'cause I can't really get mine above 156 and I know the new RR stock only does 162; and that's the fastest 600 ever according to SportRider.

sargeek i really wish i had one of the dv camcorders strapped to my tank when this happened pointing directly at the speedo cause i have run this hwy at 140mph quite a few times but never attempted any faster, but on that day i can honestly say that the 99 F4 will get up to 160mph and this is being conservative as the needle was actually creeping above the 160mph line ,now listen to this and be more amazed, me myself im 6'4 and weigh 280lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and the upgrades on the bike are muzzy titanium full system,k&n filter, jet kit,and amsoil full synthetic motorcycle oil, thats all thats done on the performance side with everything else being stock such as i have not done the 520 chain conversion so it has the stock sprockets.I believe that the bike would have went to 165mph with no problem but i had to slow to make my turn,at that speed though your bike takes its time increasing the mph but if i would have kept it going straight i KNOW i could have hit the 165mph maybe more.

It's all I can do to "safely" change a few lanes at 150+, let alone trying to make a turn!!

I guess I'll give it a go again.

Maybe your jet kit was tuned for less acceleration and a higher top end?

How about anyone else? What's the fastest you guys have been? Please state which bike you have too..... Cool

That's on the track, turn 1 at brainerd. Your pinned in 6th down the front straight. When you get to turn 1, you keep it pinned and tip it in until you feel you knee on the ground. It's a wicked feeling. What sucks is when your doing that and a 1000 goes around you on the outside.

On the street I ride like a panzy.

2002 F4i    156mph indicated

I only put that down because from all accounts, the speedometer on most, if not all motorcycles tend to be off a "little".

Always worried about going that fast on the public roads but from time-to-time I do lose it.
