Look guys; you're right. A Ford Taurus's lights might shine further than my civic straight from the factory. And then when I put my aftermarket projectors on they were WAYYYYY too high! That's why most states have vehicle safety inspections.

To make sure that your brakes brake, windshield wipers wipe, windows go up and down, and lights shine correctly with both high and low beams. That's why every car made have adjusting screws for the headlights. If you take your blazer and jack it 5 feet, are gonna not adjust your headlights? Your lows will be way too out in front of you and your highs will be in the sky!!!!!!

Like I said, the distance your lights shine depends on a multitude of things. The type of bulb being used, height adjustment of the lense, cleanliness of the lense itself and how old the bulb is.

Any one who has lived in the north knows that the tiny wipers on expensive ass cars headlights are not there for show. It's to wipe away the sand and salt that builds up on your lights during the winter so they shine like they should. If you don't clean them they aren't as bright.

If I got you guys upset I'm sorry. But who the hell am I? I could be an 80 year old woman who's never even seen a motorcycle before. So what do you care what I say? Wink

All I meant with everything I posted was that there is no excuse to ride around at night with your high beams on if your lows don't give you enough lighting. Try changing the bulb, or cleaning your lense, or getting a HID, or checking the angle of your low beams.

Just don't be so lazy as to just use your high beams all the time.

If your front brakes weren't working would you still ride your bike because you still have a rear brake? Or would you fix the problem? Huh

heh,  no one got upset,  i just dont want you thinking im one of those asses that goes out and buys a bike to do wheelies after seeing biker boys lol. Smiley  i did change my bulb.  its a xenon bulb... made a big difference but still not enough.  most likely they are aimed low.

i have an F2... i dont know how much of a pain in the ass it is to take off the front farings in the later bikes but mine is a big pain.  hard to get the fairings to fit back together right.  this isnt a liable excuse for not fixing the problem lol, just MY excuse.  havent had much time to even ride lately, let alone decide wether i should fix the problem which is only a problem for about 1/10th of my riding... or go out and get the only hours worth of riding in i can for the week heh.

aa9t8, if your low beam is out, don't adjust to compensate, just replace the bulb. The adjusters are 2 knobs on the back of the headlight. Sarge, no one was getting upset. It's all good. Wink
