Do you know what tuned length intakes are? If not go to the link below. It was written in reference to cars, but it is exactly what the airbox flapper is doing on your bike.

http://www.howstuffworks.com/question517.htm

And guess what, the same thing happens on the exhaust side too. That's what the exhaust valve is for. So if you totally understood that link and think your smarter than the team of Honda engineers that designed your bike and you don't mind doing hundred of dyno runs remapping the entire fuel map, then go ahead and pull them both off.

No, the best thing to do is save your money and leave the bike stock.

If you absolutely _have_ to modify the bike or you're head will exploded, then you could put a slipon on.

What a full system does is move the hp around. Nothing is free. It will cost around $1500 to do correctly. You will gain some top end power at the expense of your midrange, driveability and fuel milage. It makes the bike less enjoyable to ride on the street. Unless your going racing, it isn't worth it.

And just so you don't think I'm talking out my ass, I've done those mods to a 929. It was major time, money, effort, and the bike doesn' run as well as it did before. But it did pick up a couple hp just before redline.

Most slipon are designed to work well with an otherwise stock bike, so you won't need to remap.

Stock air filter is the best. Other air filter will require remapping and in some cases are damn near impossible to get right again. Changes to the intake have a much greater affect on mixture than changes to the exhaust.

To remap you will have to get a power commander. Basically all the peice of your bike are designed to work together as a system. Changing one thing can affect others and they may not work well together. Getting the whole system right again take more work than most people realize. It take alot of money to make a little more hp and guarenteed your going to loose something somewhere else. And you can't do it by how it feels. You need a dyno and exhaust gas anayliser.

If you MUST fit a slip-on, leave it at that. You're not going to imporve the bike by dicking with the air box or removing the exhaust valve. If you do remove the valve, would you send it to me?
