I'm a llama!

I didn't not wear my helmet because I thought I looked cool. I was out about to put the bike in the garage and my friend drove by, so I went to his house to talk to him.

It is the law here to wear a helmet, and I would never get out of my neighborhood with out mine. I like the way it looks. That was the first time I had ridden without mine. I may do it again in my neighborhood going 15 mph, but I neccesarily want to, or think its cool. I think people are stupid for not wearing helmets during regular riding. Or even wearing those little cap things that aren't DOT approved.

To reopen this thread and get back on topic: I just replaced the 7 year old original Yausa battery on my '01 F4i w/28k miles. It still holds a 12.6V charge, but can't crank the motor more than a little bit without pooping out. On the other hand, I live in Sunny California, where it rarely gets below 35 degrees for more than a few hours.
The wierd thing is that I had a 99 OEM F4 battery in both my 95 F3 and my 99 F4, and they both pooped out within a week of each other at 4 years of age, like some little timer went off. Then Tom's 99 XX battery died, too.

Here's my Battery Story:
The 99 F4's unfortunately went on a lovely Sunday afternoon group ride in Sonoma 'Gold Country' in the Sierra foothills, 30 miles from anywhere, & about 150 miles from home. We just rolled into town, and it wouldn't even bump start. I was pillion on my own bike due to a re-broken left ankle (long story, but at least now it was only one ankle...). My F4's 'chauffer' Larry and I borrowed Tom's (too tall) battery from his 1100XX while they were all on lunch break, and we went Battery Hunting. Being a Sunday in farm and cow country, every MC Shop and Dealer over in the 'main' town was closed. Kragen Auto Parts didn't have anything, and so we were trying to figure out what to do next, and how to get us and my bike home, and not ruin the ride for everyone else. By a total fluke (I think we stopped in for something to eat since by then we were starving), we found out that the local *WalMart* had F4 batteries! Only $60! It was supposed to have enough of a charge upon pouring in the acid to start the bike once, which was all we needed. It worked! Anyway, we made it back to our [by now very well-fed] group, and gave back Tom his battery. THEN we discovered we should have gassed up while we were back in town...oooops (rem: gas sure tastes terrible!). A week later the F3's '99 battery went when Larry borrowed it, and then the battery went in the '99 XX a week or two after that.
So my Answer to the Subject is: 4 years and 30k miles.

The Answer is: Cycle Gear now has red $90 'Mega' Yuasa-clone batteries with a 'Lifetime' warrantee (same owner, same bike). Run it down and trade it in for a new one in 4 years/30,000 miles - - The Official Predicted Battery Life, according to an Expert (me! ) LOL.
In four years they won't know it is now in your '07 RR and not your '01 F4i...[quoting the young (but practical) salesman!]. The fancy $150 Yuasa only has a 1 yr warrantee.
I marked the purchase date/'Cycle Gear"/"Lifetime" on it with a Sharpie...so in 2012 I will know what time it is. (makes sense if you're a blonde....)
