Bar ends
« on: May 25, 2002, 06:39:17 PM »

Hi, has anyone seen these bar end weights that have a sort of tunning fork thing atached to the inside end of it that is supposed to set up a counter-ressonance that damps the vibration of the clip-ons?
Any-one tried them? Anyone know where to get them?
I put clip-ons on the F4 and like them a lot, but do notice some extra vibration - not much but more than stock.  I could probably just put some heavier bar ends on but I like the simple yet high tech idea of these things and wanted to try them.
If I remember correctly, they look something like this.

Sounds like if motorcyclists had their very own infomercials, thats where you'd buy these things. I'd use the heaver bar ends. How does the tuning fork thing know what frequency to vibrate at to cancel your vibes? Sounds fishy.

lol.  You may be right, but then again, it may work. The resonating bar is tappered with a weight on the end so it could pick up a pretty wide range of frequencies - but maybe not.  I'd like to try it if anyone knows where to get them (and if no-one has tried them and found that they don't work) I'm not dead set on it but how much could it cost? $15to$20?

Besides, if you order before midnight tonight, you also get the cap-snaffler. Snaffles caps off bottles and jars and it really, really works! And that's not all....

I forgot to post on this subject before that I know lots of guys using ST1100 bar ends. They bolt right on to the CBR but are a bit heaver.

I finally got just regular bar end weights but made of stainless steel.  They work really well. There is less vibration at the grip than there is at the top of the fork itself now. I could not find anywhere in the US that had these so I ended up getting them from the UK.  They answered my e-mail questions in one day, the bar ends only took a week to be delivered, and the finish is great. I couldn't be happier with them.

So there is another company that I recommend now.  http://www.oem-uk.com/
This is not quite the same on I bought (stainless doesn't come in anodized colors and I bought the larger ones) but here's a picture that gives you the idea.
