To anyone who has an F4i. The manual says to change oil at 8000 miles and adjust valves around 16,000. Ive been told by others to change oil at 4000, and get the valves checked at the same time. Im wondering if I should go by what the book says, even though it sounds like alot of miles away. Ive already had the first oil change done and now its about time for the second one. Let me know when you did your bikes change, or is the owners manual accurate. thanks.

I have a couple of buddies up in service at my local dealer and being a new f4i owner myself decided to check into it. He says to "change oil every three to four thousand and have the valves checked about every six thousand." Worst case you might extend the life of your engine a little. Hope that helps.

Change your oil at LEAST once a season. If you ride more than 4k mi, change it twice. If you ride all year, change it every 3-4k mi.
Don't forget to lube the chain regularly, check the brake pads and CHANGE THE BRAKE FLUID! People often times neglect the brake fluid. Don't...
For oil, use Silkolene RaceLube 10w40. It's a semi-synthetic lube that's about the same price as Honda GN4. www.silkolenestore.com Tell Audrey I sent you over!

I change my oil at 3-4k, which is probably overkill, but thats what I do. I use only Honda GN4. As for the valves, if anyone ever suggests you check them any more often than 16,000 miles, you should avoid taking your bike there at all costs. That person either doesn't know what he/she is talking about, or they're trying to con you into spending money. Shim under bucket valves, especially on a Honda, rarely go out. I've never seen one less than 10 years old with less than 40,000 miles need adjustment. NEVER. Maybe once a year someone at the delaership will have to get shims from the parts department for an old high mile bike. Thats it.
