Suspension Set-up
« on: May 21, 2002, 05:21:28 PM »

Not sure how many of you are good with setting up your own bike.  I myself don't do most of my mechanical work.  Last weekend while at the race track, I had my suspension set-up for my riding style/size and so forth.  I FULLY recommend this to anyone that is riding on stock set-ups.  It was a pertty easy process but took some time and calculating...but is well worth it.  Bike feels much different and way better.

I have been a "leave it alone and ride it" kinda guy up until this year.  Now I'm using a suspension engineer (Ed Kwaterski from Trackside Engineering www.suspension-ed.com) and it's made an incredible difference.

I'm pulling the forks off tonight to have them rebuilt and I'm confident that it will take 2 seconds or more off my lap times.

Hey Jeff, didn't you Traxxion Dynamics forks a while ago, along with a number of other mods?

No.  I just bought their springs and went with a 5wt Silkolene oil.  I never did have them re-valved.

I just had my stock suspension set up for me and it feels way better I can't wait to get my raceteck springs and valves and my ner rear shock. I will be running Race tech 9 weight springs up front to help carry my extra luggage I mean my extra weight now a larger 205 lbs. and a rear spring rated for 190 to 220 I do believe.

I had my forks done by traxxion and they rock.  It wasn't cheap, but worth it, IMHO.  I don't know a whole lot about suspension, but I'm learning.  It pays to have someone in the pits with you that knows their shit.
