F4i rear on a F4 ?????
« on: September 8, 2002, 06:19:22 PM »

I saw a 2000 cbr f4 with a 2002 f4i rear tail section on it is this something that is common?
How hard would it be to do? Huh

It's not difficult.  Somewhat expensive, but not difficult.  You'd need to swap the entire rear end to include subframe, rear fender, brake light, seats and plastic.

OEM new parts would cost you ~$1500 for this.  Used, you could probably do it for around $500.

Again, I say...  "if you want an F4i, go buy one!"

Couldn't agree more...that is a lot of cash to drop for a new seat...sell you bike and put the $$ for the F4i rear end together and ...as Jeff said...buy the F4i

Well my tail plastic is on it's way soon!

Should be shipped out this weekend.  I think I will wait for the off season to make the changes though.

As much as I would like to go to the F4i, this F4 is already paid for ...

I would like to do this conversion myself, mostly for aesthetics.  Can someone post a list of ALL the required parts?  And any modifications other than bolt ons?

I would appreciate it.

THANKS!!   Cheesy

If you insist on wasting the money:
Fairing; Subframe; Saddle(2 pc); Tail light; rear pegs; fender/trunk/battery tray (the big black plastic thing).
I think some of the electronics modules are different, but you could zip tie/tape then in.  Blinkers - same.

A good F4 undertail/blinker eliminator/custom saddle looks pretty slick, and alot cheaper.  (Jason's and Darren's Gallery) Stock F4i seat isn't the greatest ass smacker.

An alternative to honda part$: fiberglass solo fairing(many cover the undertail section as well); eliminate rear pegs; get/make a muffler hanger; get creative with the taillights; solo saddle; modify F4 abs plastic trunk yourself.  Still need subframe for seat brackets.  (Bruce's F4i pic in F4i gallery)

Aesthetics are the only reason I would do it. I have better things to use my money for right now. There is another post in general area about it. Nasty posted what you needed.. .he should know.. he did it. I really don't like the one piece seat, and LOVE the two piece like most newer bikes are. Don't get me wrong, I love my bike, just not so much the seat.

I will do a write up on the conversion as soon as I have a chance and post it for all that are thinking about doing this swap.
