HI i bought a used bike and the previous owner only had one key to give me.... While the bike was at a local service station, for a coolant change, the mechanic lost the key.... Please note that here, in India, we dont have any honda authorised service stations for superbikes... honda here only deals with smaller scooters and bikes... Any suggestions or help would be deeply appreciated... Is there any way to bypass the HISS or duplicate a key, without the original? Can the HISS be removed?

Hey. My brother had the same prob with his 02 f4i in dubai. The dealership said he would have to change a whole bunch of stuff including the CDI and the ignition switch. Anyway, we bought a non-hiss CDI unit from ebay and tried to use that and the bike did not start. Now we ordered an ignition switch with they key from ebay too, and its on the way. Will see what happens. If you find another way, lemme know.

You can bypass the entire ignition by shorting the startermotor. or the solonoid. This will at least help you get the bike back home...
The HISS uses a Chip to deactivate the immobilizer unit.
Now this is where the fun starts. Do you have a manual, Did you write the key number in the manual?
Did you write any numbers down anywhere?
I know that the CBR1100XX do have references on certain parts to that ke number.
If you can't find the key number anywhere, you will have to replace the HISS ignition, and you might find that you will have to replace the ecu unit also. This is not cheap....
Unless you can find a scrap bike that still has these?
You can also maybe try to get hold of an older ECU and ignition system elsewhere.
The ECU controls the imobilizer, this is why the previous comment did not work.
You can't bypass the ECU!

Contact Honda and they should have a record of the key code based on the serial number of your bike and ECU, and they can airmail a new key (or two) over. Make the mechanic who lost it deduct the cost of it all off your bill (I hope it isn't lodged in someone's motor!).
In the meantime, toss the bike in a truck to get it home.
